You Grunt
You Sweat
You lift heavy tin
You may or may not be swole
You are MAN and it’s time to ROAR!!!
IN THE BLOKES ONLY, AVERAGE AGE, PAIRS COMPETITION – THAT PUTS ALL AGE PARTNERSHIPS ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD
After successfully running the girl equivalent (The Kitty & Cougar Throwdown) in 2015, we have decided to BLOKE IT UP.
We know you want to compete, to throw down with your fellow chest beating, fire breathing mates (whether you let everyone see that, or you just roar on the inside) in a comp that is not geared at the big guns. Where both rookies and intermediate class athletes, and all age groups are catered for, at their current level.
This is the comp where Stags young and old(er), grunt and roar to exert dominance in an attempt to attract the finest Hind (well, a prize . . . but if you catch a lovely ladies eye along the way . . . well . . .)
As well as putting all age partnerships on a level playing field, this is the comp that rewards mate-ship, encouraging your fellow beasts, and giving it a go, above winning. We want you to have a bloody great time at your own box, while giving virtual High 5s and Fist Bumps to fellow Stags worldwide.
If you are 20 and your pops is hulk smashing out DeadLifts in his 60s – you can partner up.
If you and your wing man are training buddies as well, then you can join forces . . .
– because we are Average Ageing you!!
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
· Note the divisions:
< 30
30 – 39
40 – 49
50 – 59
+ 60
*Note: Athletes 14 – 17 need to have guardian permission.
· Choose your fellow Stag
· Add your ages (at first day of comp) together & divide by 2. Register for the event under THAT AGE category
eg. Harry G is 22 & Harry M is 52. 22 + 52 = 74 (÷ by 2) = 37. The Horndog Harrys therefore enter the 30 – 39 division
Karl is 61 & Aaron is 60. 60 + 61 = 121 (÷ by 2) = 60.5. The 12 Pointers (because they are going all in on the Stag theme with their team name) enter the +60 division.
· Your team scores are entered under the age category you entered. (eg. The Horndog Harrys score for each WOD is entered in the 30 – 39 division, The 12 Pointers score for each WOD is entered in the +60 division).
THE COMP AND WORKOUTS:
3 weeks – 3 workouts (one a week), from 4th August. Every workout has multiple scaling options!
WOD 1 (week 1): Partner workout. Both partners will be working out at the same time. Individuals CALENDAR/ACTUAL AGE determines weight used and scaling options available.
WOD 2 (week 2): Team members complete workout separately as Individuals. Individuals CALENDAR/ACTUAL AGE determines weights used and scaling options. Both team members scores added together for result.
WOD 3 (week 3): Partner workout. One person working, one person resting. Teams AVERAGE AGE determines weights used and scaling for both participants.
MAKING IT WORK
Workouts have been structured so your coach can make them a part of their class schedule for the week, or you can do it as time allows.
WODs, movement standards and scoring sheets will be released at 9am (NZ time), each Thursday, with the first coming out on Thurs 4th August 2016 Check Your Time Zone Here
You will have 7 days to complete the workout and a further 48 hours to submit your score. (Specific instructions will be posted with each WOD on the day of release).
JUDGING
Find someone who can count, who will uphold movement standards and who will be honest in scoring your team. PS – every entry gets to nominate their coach for a prize!
WOD DEVELOPMENT
WODs have been put together by Darren Ellis – known in NZ as The WODfather. As a youngin he was into gymnastics and martial arts, as a slightly more age-id person the CrossFit commenced. Daz kicked off CF in NZ opening the first affiliate here, is an undisputed nutrition guru, and he works with and programs for people all over the world.
What it boils down to is he’s an absolute master at the programming stuff and can be contacted through CrossFitNZ if you want to talk remote coaching with him.
